Hotrod tippers, i.e. tippers composed of several sticks, are among the most popular tippers of all because they produce a very powerful and rounded sound.
This type of drumstick has been used in drumming for several decades and was transferred to the bodhrán early on by various players.
We have two types of hotrods: Classic Hotrods, which consist only of rods made of different woods, and Hybrid Hotrods, which consist of a wooden handle and rods made of different woods.
We offer a wide range of different hotrod models, here is an overview:
we have questioned and optimised every single detail of construction and have emerged with a variety of tippers that provide the player with different sound variations but have the same structure.
Therefore, all HedRods have a similar feel, and the changing from one to another requires less effort yet achieves a totally different sound.
The way in which the model name works is as follows: HR refers to HedRod, the subsequent digit refers to the diameter of the rods in millimetres and and the final designation refers to the shape of the head, a critical detail to the desired sound.
Slightly longer hotrod with a length of 26 cm.
The aim was to develop an optimal handle that, unlike the usual round hotrods, has a triangular cross-section. The triangular shape could be achieved by arranging the 12 dowels in a special way.
The firm grip is further enhanced by the stronger grating of the shrink tubing on the handle.
All in all, an exceptional design that fits very well in the hand and offers the typical Hotrod sound.
In many years of cooperation with experienced and world-famous bodhrán players, Stevie Moises has designed and produced these signature tippers. Just like the players they are named after, the individual models have very unique and specific playing styles and sound ideals.
These signature series are available:
What makes the MoGrip series special is that the player gets the same shape of handle for all types of tippers! Regardless of whether you use a hot rod, a click tipper, a brush or simply a classic stick, the grip will al-ways feel the same.
A ball-shaped part in just the right position – the MoBall – makes sure the tipper doesn’t slip. The MoBall allows you to hold the tipper loosely and therefore makes it easy to control, which is very important for any way of playing.
All dowels are treated with a hard oil wax finish.
In addition to the RWE-Grip Hotrods, the MoGrip Hotrods include the EMo and the MellMo.
The combined experience of Christian Hedwitschak and Stevie Moises is reflected in every aspect of this product.
Length, weight, hitting weight, and balance point were meticulously calculated and perfectly matched to each other. These optimal physical properties make for a tipper that practically plays by itself :)
The HED tippers are carefully handcrafted by Stevie Moises in Bavaria, Germany, using sustainable raw materials.
Its complex handcrafting process, high-quality material, and many years of meticulous development make each HED tipper a valuable and unique item.
